The Concept

"What if SF had its own Met Gala?"

The SF Met Gala is a private, friends-organized party built around the one thing SF has never really had: a proper excuse to get dressed up. No charity auction, no corporate sponsor. Just a really good night in a beautiful building with people who take fashion seriously.

The theme is Costume Art — same as this year's real Met Gala. Sculptural silhouettes, draped fabric, architectural shapes. Outfits that belong in a gallery. We're not throwing this in a museum, so we're turning the venue into one.

The Venue

The Conservatory at One Sansome

A four-story glass-ceilinged atrium in the Financial District. The building is 113 years old, restored in 2023 — 38-foot Doric columns, a glass ceiling you can look straight up through, 8,100 square feet of open floor. Almost nobody knows it exists. It's where the city's real galas happen.

Hors d'oeuvres & small plates throughout the evening. Not a sit-down dinner.

DJ spinning artsy, eclectic sets. The atrium is the floor.

Fashion Competition

Best on-theme, best outfit, fanciest look — with a charismatic MC.
